To get some honest perspective, you really need to run a stock saw, and then run a ported one. The stock ones are very, very good runners, both the 590 Echo and the 562.

One of my favorite features of the 562, is the ability to port a brand new saw, and send it home with its new owner ungassed, knowing it will not need its carb adjusted to avoid damage. The AT takes care of everything. I also have been amazed at how much of an air leak the AT is able to compensate for. We have had saws come back in for repair with blown base gaskets, leaking trans covers, bad crank seals, torn intake boot, and a blown case gasket, and the cylinders still in excellent shape.

I might want an awol 2260? The Jred feels even smaller & lighter in the hands...
You may like a 2260 better than a 562, Don! That way it would use the same bar and chains as your 346, 357s use. We sell more 562s because they use the large mount bars which I like better.

You got any of the 562 with the 3/4 wrap?

The one I'm raving about was new in the box the night before the gtg,he ported it that night and changed how I look at small saws the next morning.

You have to run one to understand.
He put wild turkey in it while re-assembling..

That's why it ran so good.

Alan, Are you cutting the base and squish or just doing a base gasket delete?

I'd Like to Run a Good 562, really, I would.

The only one I've ever handled was in pieces in a box.

I can't see how one would compare to a ported 77 cc saw, but what do I know?

This saw had its squish band cut, pop up turned on the piston, and .070 removed from base. It has a LOT of compression. When the squish isn't to tight, a simple base gasket delete, and strato timing change gives really good results. The compression increase and lower exhaust gave this saw a much wider happy range than those that only have a gasket delete.
