It sounds like the metering diaphragm is getting stiff. If so, they can run great one day but not the next. That also can prevent the needles from working.

Stiff metering diaphragm is a good one.
Maybe a bit of debris or dried gas restricting a passage, and you knocked it loose by adjusting the mixture needles?
Seasonal gas? This early in the season you may have gotten a batch of winter blend fuel. That can cause some wierd issues.
Just some thoughts.

Well I have my own gas tank at the shop. Yeah I dunno this was just a weird one to me. This saw gets used more than any I own. Either way I’ll see what happens next time I use it
