Old topic to the top.
Found this while searching a minor ailment.
Darn tank vent leaking, I must of doinked it while messing with fuel line.

Going to read this topic later.

Common problem. Easy to replace.

Easiest way to remove it is to thread a drywall screw into it and just pull it out. There's a little plug/filter -- basically the vent -- in the end that will disintegrate in the process. (A new vent will include that piece.) Just be careful not to thread the screw too far or let it skew against the tank. Install the white plug with the flat side against the vent tube surface. Use a decent, fuel resistant sealant around the outside diameter of the end of the vent tube when you install it being careful to not get any on the white insert. Carefully drive the tube home with a correctly sized punch. Most recurring leaks with new vents are a result of not getting it seated all the way. You should be able to feel when it bottoms out.

I pushed it from inside out, with my fishing pliers.
Cleaned and installed my best used one, still leaked.
Problem was the tank grommet.
Wrong od fuel line contributed to this.
So tank is off the engine now. One av rubber was dried up-junk.
Went from fresh 51 cp top end ready to fire, to pieces,
such is life in shade tree ville.
I'll read that other post too, thanks.
