An attempt at quad port running characteristics perhaps?? Or maybe for structural strength of the cylinder casting at the transfer to prevent cracking over time?

only possible logic is structural. Or just plain hype of closed port

The replacement came Saturday. Much gooder! Going to smooth the exhaust a little and try it out this week.

I've got the closed port that I did a base gasket delete on and widened the ports and raised exhaust about .010 it four strokes up to 15,500 the stock open port I ran before was a little more torquey but no where near as fast.
