Definitely something amiss with all that heat getting to the brake flag
Muffler was tight Joe! Got me to thinking where all that heat came from though!
Yep but the screen is missing. Other than that everything was normal! Is the deflector still on the muffler?
Everything looks normal and the exhaust bolts were tight. The burn on the brake flag is right where the defector is.Strange, is the mating surface of the exhaust port flat or is it warped maybe?
Is this the part your speaking of? Loos good to me let me know what you think?Wonder if this one had the famous impulse horn leak at the grommet? If you don't replace the grommet consider pulling it out, turn it around, and put it back in so the horn mates on the side that isn't worn when you reassemble. Or consider getting a new grommet for assembly -- small investment to help save from that common issue. Pretty sure that's what toasted the one I rebuilt for my buddy.
Saw looks nice. These do great w/ a muffler mod fairly simple baffles can be cut out w/ a cutting wheel took very little time. May help her run cooler too
Cheers.
Yup. That one looks decent. No dirt spots from sucking air. The one I had looked like a spot where air was getting in may have been there. Super cheap to replace if you can get one before you put her together. Cheers. Is this the part your speaking of? Loos good to me let me know what you think?
Did a vac test when I took that pic and it didn't drop any over a couple minutes.Yup. That one looks decent. No dirt spots from sucking air. The one I had looked like a spot where air was getting in may have been there. Super cheap to replace if you can get one before you put her together. Cheers.

Great little saw, I've got 2...The air filter on a 50 is also the choke. It just pushes against the air horn when the lever is pushed on the cover.
This one had the retaining tabs broken by its owner so it didn't stay on, sucked some dust through. Sometimes the little details matter.

Any chance anyone has a shop manual for them?
