Best way to describe the issue is with a picture:
xpg year 00 case and an NE piston

I can try to find one NE case, but if my memory was right they removed a tad materiale on front & rear side

Ideally I would keep both, but which shall I keep and tinker with. This 351G or the 340? Both minty fresh.. but these comments on the 351 case suggest it is not 346 cylinder compatible???
Personal preference there. What I like so much about the plastic bottom is the weight. After the tinkering, the power to weight is stellar. Makes an awesome saw to limb with, especially if you find yourself limbing above boobie height (which I do frequently).

According Husky's IPL's the old OE and 351 should have the same case, but then, no one can trust them.
Here is an picture of OE vs NE case (but of course the NE case can handle a 353 45mm piston)

Not saying that the old OE and 351 case (before they upgraded the crankcase) can't use an 44,3mm piston, but it's something people should pay attention to

Sooo much knowledge, thanks TOR!! I have both a ruined OE piston and a 353 piston from a cylinder with the trans covers. I will try and find the time to see what will work on this saw.

don't keep them that close together... they will get pregnant and multiply like rabbits. make sure they don't know about each other, otherwise they get jealous

just fyi

This little 340 was a little saw hoe.. early last week it was just her and the 550 stud in my 50cc class, she slept around and these little things popped out..

I have to admit it. Those Jonsered's are peaking my curiosity. They are sexy. I saw Mason's saw in CT. It was very strong and it wasn't even ported. Just MM and timing advance.
Husky's don't do anything for me, but those Johnyreds......... Hmmmm.
