No decipherable I.D. info on this saw except black top, later style chain brake, Tilly carb, plastic worm gear, and the older spur drive clutch drum on a .500" crank. Trying to figure out my options for converting to a rim drive setup. Looks like an Oregon ORF 26831 kit should do the trick given the 1/2" crank diameter but without a serial number that's about all I have to go by. Also not sure about washers, etc. IPL shows what looks like a thin fiber and/or plastic guard type barrier washer to keep crap out.

TIA for any info or enlightenment.

A little more research on this seems to indicate the main consideration is which style of worm is driving the oil pump. If I'm missing something else...?

I would imagine the 61 shares parts with 162se/66/266/268/272. Can probably swap parts interchange? Id wait till someone more knowledgeable than me chimes in lol.

I do believe they're all the same. There are differences that will show up in early vs late models. Keyed flywheel vs cast-in the flywheel, and also a course threaded clutch vs fine thread in later models. 625, 630, and 670 jred are also in the family

I might be writing, but I'd think most of the oil pump drive parts are the same
At least the ones I've seen are

Different flywheel threads as well. Oil pump drive parts are the difference in the rim conversion.

There are two different spur setups depending on the saw vintage. One has lugs on the drum spline hub to drive the common worm gear, the other doesn't...presumably because the earlier worm is a press fit vs. the later floating style. There are serial number break points between the two, just no serial number on the particular 61 I'm rebuilding.

Old style...(Oregon 102469)

New style...(Oregon 26831)

I've determined that I need the later style, btw. Thanks for chirpin' in to help.

On mine, the drum drives the white plastic piece. The white plastic piece drives the worm gear I believe

OEM spur drum alone is like $38. The Oregon Power Mate rim drive setup with drum, rim sprocket, bearing, washer, and dust shield is only $22. Sold...., all day long.

The oiler gears were all the same design, and driven the same. The pic that Oregon shows (above) for the 102469 is probably not the actual part. I think the newer style kit will work just fine.

26831 is the one I need for this particular saw. Lug driven worm. Later style setup. The 102469 is for pre-serial number 0510572 (for the 61) which I'm pretty sure used a press fit (on the crank) worm. Seem to recall needing a puller for the worm on my old white top 61 Practica when I replaced the oil pump some time ago.

I know this is solved, but just to add, there are 2 and 1 piece coils as well, two piece being the older style

I'm painfully aware of that! LOL

Thankfully there are some decent and economical aftermarket options these days.

Yep. Mine are both 2 pc. More easily identified by the location of the left front cylinder cover bolt. Top cover bolt in front of the upper left recoil bolt = older 2 pc ignition
