Gloves. 18" bar on that one. The one you tried might have had a 20..? And a 16" balances real sweet. I leave the weight of the saw in the cut most of the time. A 20" isn't too much for the power of the saw. I love the MS261. Love it.

I have a 550xpg and ported 2153. Love them both. Ive had the 241 and 261cm. The 261cm was ok. I thought it was a bit bulky. Id lean towards the jonsered 2260 it's the same size as a 261 with a whole heap more grunt.
Found a 026 pro for a friend. Got a 261 for another. 261 almost went back to the dealer:) I'm with you, to me it felt like older stihls, older I mean like a cinder block.

To the OP. I have a ported (MM) 545 and I love it. It was my choice for a 50cc saw even before it was ported.

550xp will get you rev boost and a couple other minor ( to me at least) features

Me too, I have a hard time understanding the grey clutch cover thing.

But like others said you cannot go wrong with any of the saws listed.
