Howdy Men, has anyone figured out how to replace the husky 450 oil pump with one from a 455? The 455 pump fits perfectly in the 450 case however I am tunning into an issue with the drive gear. They are completely different, so any suggestions would ber greatly apperciated.

I am pretty sure you would just need to get the 455 oil gear and 455 clutch drum too. Then just put .325 rim sprocket on it. I just did this same swap on a husky 345 and this is what I used.

Hi Shane, I have swapped out the pumps and clutch drum but the 455 pinion gear is rubbing on the pump cover and wearing out in a hurry. Did you have any issues with this? Thank you

I have not got my saw back together yet. Do you have any pictures of it?

OK, it's been a long time since I've been on the forum. I used to go by Terry Syd, now I'm Spur (email provider went out of business, new computer, *s-word in my life, etc.)

I've got the 455 oil pump installed. The 450 gear doesn't work. I've picked up a 460 drive gear, it still doesn't connect with the pump. I want more oil on the bar. I've got the little 450 putting out 70cc horsepower at 12,000-12,500 rpm and running an 8-pin. I need more oil on the 18" bar. Help please!

So, how did you get that much more out of a 450?
Have you tried drilling out the outlet hole on the pump?

I had pictures posted here or else over at Arboristsite of doing just that. Can't seem to find them here and no longer a member at AS.
IF anyone still has a working log in over at Arborissite, maybe they can check if the pics are there?

As has been mentioned, you'll need the clutch shell and oiler gear from the 455.
But the cover plate behind the clutch (and oiler gear) has a different shape that's needed to fit the 455 gear. The 450 cover plate won't fit behind the 455 gear.

But the backing plate also has a different curve at the "discharge" area.
I had to do a bit of sharpie work and some blacksmithing on the cover to reshape it to match the place where it fits onto the saw body.

Used a smaller ball peen hammer and the "anvil" side of my vice and a large impact socket to get the shapes.
takes a little trimming to get the folded/hammered over areas of the 455 plate back to the right height or else it will not fit flat against the saw body.

Check your fit carefully here, as the edge rubbing the body could cause a crack or wear a hole in the plastic.
