Before and after pics. It was missing several parts too, like carb, air filter mount, everything to do with the clutch and a few other odds and ends. Got some good used parts from forum members and boneyard parts from my local Husky dealer. It was very rewarding when she fired up and tuned in nice. :)
Thanks for the advice. Yes, it has the Walbro carb.

Yours turned out really nice. $300 is about what it would be worth when finished but this was supposed to be a saw that I could potentially make money on. As butt-ugly as the rear handle/tank is, it would be a tough (or cheap) sell. I'll probably do as Tor said and collect one or two other carcasses and put one good one together.

port looks "clean" and "smooth" but shape looks stock.....
piston is definitely back assward....
Are the ports normally so smooth on these cylinders? The 242's/254's/262's that I am used to normally have casting lines in the port openings - the ports on this one are as smooth as a baby's butt.

Carbon cleaned off with a wire brush in a drill.... still some carbon in there but should be enough to see the factory finish and shape.uploadfromtaptalk1464353843702.jpguploadfromtaptalk1464353860767.jpg
