How to carry chainsaws on flatbed

So I do part time tree removals, which usually entails a lot of brush. I recently picked up an 89 GMC 1 ton with a flatbed and I’m looking for ideas on a saw rack that would attach to the headache rack. I want to leave the bed as open as possible for brush and firewood, and keep the saws up out of harms way and accessible loaded or empty. They will not be stored on the truck, only placed in the rack for transport to and from the job, and locked in place with a cable lock when not actively being used. Anyone have any pictures and or advice. Needs to be able to handle up to 5 saws, longest bar will be in the 41” range, down to a 14” climbing saw. Pics of the bed for a better idea what I’m working with

What Tim said. Or a set of road boxes mounted under the bed.

Going to be a compromise whatever route you take. Saws are always in the way on the return trip.

I have seen some guys extend a platform off the headache rack, over the cab and build a box there for saws and gear

I have the same issue with a Kubota utv. On amazon they sell a composite thing that your bar slides down in (basically an oversized bar scabbard) that you can either bolt or zip tie to the mesh of the headache rack. Buttt they are super expensive for the casual wood cutter. Easiest and cheapest way is to make them out of 2x4's and something thin like decking boards. Then you can take U bolts that fit the width of the wooden box and bolt them straight to the rack. Whenever I get around to making mine, I'm going to use some sort of 1/4 or 3/8 hard plastic to line the inside of the bar box so that the chain doesn't catch or tear up the box.

Also get a big thick bungee cord like they use on big truck tarps, screw one side to the back of the box and put some sort of loop on the other so you can bungee your saws down for those extra rough rides

This is not mine but I saved this photo awhile back I'm sure you could do the same thing just put the mounts on the headache bar instead.
