That’s the way I usually do it. Oddly every once in a while I’ll cut one that splits decent by hand. They’re rare though. Usually a 272 for me

We had a big chunk of gum stump my dad would send my brother and I to "split" for punishment. It lasted about 3 years and I would guess at least half a dozen hours of splitting. Never did split into decent pieces.

This old beast was in horrible condition. The Bubba rebuilt it....and I tickled it's innards a bit. With that 20" bar it's a fun saw to run.

The 044 is an impressive tree slayer even a wounded one. I’m about to big bore my dads wiped 044 this weekend. I did t think a saw could run enough to cut wood with a piston and jug so scored....his old saw was shamefully neglected

Yeah I got super lucky. Still had to clean the press up before leaving. Last shift before Christmas weekend.

I have a log splitter.

But......I'm pretty sure the 044 is easier.
