Elm was the worst wood I have split in this area yet. Very stringy. I ended up noodling it with the saw at the time.
yeah elm is pretty much to worst here. although ive gotten into a couple beech near lake michigan that had been battered by wind for 70 years, wish i had pictures, damn things were like corkscrews the whole way up.

I pulled the guts straight through my Elasto Start handle last outing with my flat top 066, just got my new unit in to replace it. Broke the cord off short after tieing on a piece of tree limb for a handle, think it might have a tad too much compression, no release. It hasn`t stripped out the spool yet.

I don’t know much about splitting a gum, but I did bite the hell out of my tongue several weeks ago. Took over 5 hours to stop bleeding and I filled half a Gatorade jug with blood before it stopped.
