I'm going to guess maybe we had a bad batch. I also had a blue 660 do the same thing. I replaced it with oem parts and it still acted anemic. I'm going to replace oil tank tube and see if that fixes the problem.

Welcome to the asylum, but please explain the problem with you're saw in more detail. I was very happy with my "blue cover kit", most of the problems with the orange cover kits seemed to have been addressed.

I had bought it probably a month after they came out. I experienced the worm drive spring tearing into case and grenading the oiler. I replaced with OEM parts and still had anemic oiling. So the only part I haven't replaced is the line going to tank.

Check that everything is lined up properly and the work gear is working right. I had to bend the metal of some of the worm gears to make sure they spun OK. Make sure you did not damage the threads inserting it. I turn them in very carefully.

Makes sure you have the correct piece of rubber in the case under the oiler (where it sends oil to the case). It is not an O ring, it looks like a cut off piece of a tube, about 1/8" long.

Make sure your bearing did not push out, and that your oiler is all the way down.

I have oiled 36" bars with a few of my clones w/o a problem.

I've done all that, EXCEPT......Does the crank bearing set flush? It sticks out exactly 0.070. the oiler seems to set flat over it.

Has anyone tried the plastic cage clutch bearing?
The oem bearing is also plastic at least on the 064/66... I had a aftermarket bearing on a 064 I swapped for oem. I measured both and the oem was a little longer interestingly. I had a aftermarket hyway intake boot that actually fit the cylinder better than the oem boot and they said it was made of dupont viton not just some ping pong ball rubber lol. So I guess it’s a crapshoot with this stuff. Either good or bad, no in between it seems.

There was a change in the white air filters about two years ago. The first few runs were centered, glued nicely, and used a foam gasket that sealed better than OEM HDs.

The more recent (2018) ones I’ve received aren’t as nice. They’re trying a rubber-style gasket that isn’t as forgiving as the foam...leak points there if things aren’t centered and right.

Maybe they’re back to the foam these days? Not sure.

I compared a cross piston bearing to the farmertec, and the Cross has one more needle which I assume will support much more weight even though the pins are smaller. I don't know why they don't just go for 11 or 12 pins as it looks like there's room.

Bigger needles dont spin as many revolutions though. It's a tradeoff

I finally got around to finishing mine and trying to start it. I haven't got it to idle longer than about 3-4 seconds max. I noticed that I think even from the first time it fired there seems to be a squeak, now it is there every time I turn the engine, but wasn't there during the first time I tried starting it.

Any ideas on what the squeak could be? That would suck if it's a bearing and I have to tear it down again. I tried to be extra careful keeping things clean and oiled during the build.

EDIT: never mind, the starter cover plastic was rubbing the flywheel

Lol. I killed a recoil spool because it was rubbing the flywheel but it was the only one I know longer use the farmertec recoil spool but I do use the housings and recoil springs.

I just got to looking at the cylinder that came with my kit, and they didn't hone the upper 1/4" of the cylinder, and the plating has a hole flaked off up there too. Junk :(
I've had one come to me that way to flipping sucked. Just get a Highway piston and cylinder at least then you'll have a descent set up.
