It'll work out, maybe not in regard to time, but definitely in education and experience.

That was kind of my next question, but thought I'd wait till you were finished LOL. Giving the cost of material, tools, and time is it worth the hassle. That being said, you've done it once so the next one should be easier/ faster. Now you have the tools you need. If it holds up in comparison to your factory RW bar and you own other bars to be converted (not buying them). I call that a win.

Thanks!

I wouldn't be able to attempt this without your generosity, Jason.
You bet, anytime Jon.

I think I'd tape off the finish of the bar with aluminum foil to keep sparks from fooling with the finish paint, and knock out 99% of the meat left btwn the holes with a die grinder and 3" cut-off wheels. Reason I say 3" cut-off wheels, you're not at a crazy angle free-handing and keeping the cut-off wheel good and perpendicular to the bar. Cut just inside of the pen line and finish it out with de-burring heads or flat files and round files to clean up the radius'. This will be a cool bar when finished.

This bar has had all of the paint stripped off of it prior to taking on this attempt. Once I get the cutting, and filler done, I am going to sand the whole thing with fine grit paper.

Yeh I meant to say pitting of any sort on the bar from the sparks. Like you said, once it gets sanded it'll handle all that anyhow.

Don't forget the paint !!!! It adds weight .

Or weigh another bar ?

No paint present, nor will there be any when I am done.

Or ask someone else to weigh one?.......
