I am liking the Xl-925 I picked up recently and I'm looking to try other iterations from this series. xl-700, 800, 922, 923, vi944,955 etc. I dont mind a project as long as the basics are sound. Cylinder and ignition good, etc. There are a few floating around on Ebay but prices seem a little inflated.

My interest in these is recent so I am working off limited observations but a 50+ year old saw going for $5-6-700 is too high for me. Then Ebay items often have an additional $80-100 for shipping, then there are taxes. So maybe an ugly $200 beat up unit that does not run and probably has an unredeemable cylinder and other issues might cost $300 to arrive on my porch. Then the quest for parts begins... I sometimes find things for a song locally and then I am content to lay out for parts to bring a project alive but that requires patience and, as an irish acquaintance once told me "Patience is a virtue, catch it if you can, seldom in women and never in men."

I like those saws, sir.
I did see the 923 listed for sale here. The seller was good enough to run an inspection cam down into the cylinder. I decided to pass on it.

Hello,

I had a large pile of 925 saws here but have passed most on to other folks over the past 25 years. I am sure there are some of the 900 series derivatives here yet though. I feel I sell saws at a fair price but a fair price is like beauty and is in the eye of the beholder. I can do a bit of looking later.
