Joe, I've got a couple of suggestions. Remember this is free advice and could be worth the same.
1) Metal bench tops, I used galv on mine, 16ga I think.
2) Build them as much as you can in length, you can never have enough
3) Gather up all the 2 liter coke crates you can. A broke down saw (waiting on parts) fits very neatly in one and I usually put all my screws and parts in a gallon zip lock freezer bag along with everything else to be put on a shelf back in a storage area. https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/...0EIGxtGJRWvLiu4P0xxmDQwZu17s5YGzcGst8_6_nlqKK
4) Buy you a bunch of those cheap Harbor Freight magnetic screw catcher pans, they go in the ZL bag also. http://www.harborfreight.com/4-inch-magnetic-parts-tray-90566.html
5) A buddy took a bunch of 2" angle iron and magnetized it and he uses that to separate projects, he does a lot of cylinder head work and it allows a defined area for each head.
6) When you want lighting give me a holler, I gots connections
7) Install a shop vac outside your shop and plumb it inside. Install a switch in your shop and it will pick up everything and be quite at the same time.

Some very good ideas,

Plan on using the 4ft 4 bulb fixtures, as I already have a few of em. Maybe invest in some good bulbs.

I have a fried that works for pepsi, may be able to get a hold of a few crates...

Do like the mag dish idea.

Thank you.

And those fixtures should be fine. Use these bulbs and throw the ballast away, they are LED bulbs that you wire line voltage to the tombstone. NO MORE BALLAST EVER!!!!!

Good deal, cause I think I fried a few of em.

Had to cut the power when I put my stove in. 3 black wires unlabeled except for ground. 50% chance. glad I just lost a couple lights lol. live and learn.

Again thank you for the help.

I'm so done with 8' fluorescents. I'm going all LED soon. I've used 4 cases of fluorescent bulbs in 12 years. What a pain in my ass

LED's are definitely the way to go. T-8 fluorescents are junk. The t-5's I have had great luck with. Seem to last much longer too.

At the time, I was price hunting. I bought (14) 8' fluorescent lights at about $30 each. I had good luck with them previously, but not anymore. I have to replace 8 or 10 bulbs a year, maybe more, idk. Out of 28 bulbs, right now about 12 work.

Yeah...I know, as an electrician...they go out way more Often than they should. If they don't completely go out...they'll drive you batshit crazy from blinking. Lol. One thing to check for...make sure all the fixtures are grounded. This has seemed to help

Shack lit up, need to saw out the fixture in the ceiling.

9,6 wide 15,6 deep just under 6ft to the edge.

This is going to be "saws" only. have enough tools once I get a spot for em in here they stay here.

Any non saw projects will get done In the barn.
Move the air compressor outside. Build a small enclosure around it. Put a heater on the crankcase. Plug in the heater late fall, unplug early spring. My compressor has been outside for 25 years without an issue. 25 years of not having to listen to that godamn thing.

Maybe some Sort of an exhaust fan. I know we all like to fire up saws inside sometimes and I didn't see any windows in the picture Joe.

A lot of good ideas.
Separate grinding room. Or an exhaust fan. Or run thru a filter with a FIREPROOF filter.
Keep out just the tools you use often.

Deep benches. 36" is good. Room for tool box at the back.
Tall enough and with enough overhand to sit on a stool.
Have a vice high enough where you can file well. A few inches makes a big difference.
Grinder at a comfortable height
Good locks........don't ask.

Is there a std for bench height? Sit in a chair at my current bench. A taller one would make standing a lot easier.
