great news ! thank you so much ! very generous of you my friend. I will enjoy reading it then pass it along to another axe junkie I know !yeah have a catch up , i managed to mail that book this week so you should get it soon
Haven’t done any more work on it. Been working long hours and now I have to do some serious work on my overhead barn doors. Track geometry is all jacked up...fun fun. I’m hoping to finish the handle Sunday if my door project goes smooth.@XP_Slinger how did the axe end up are you pleased

Just a ladder...I’ll get it doneHave you got a loader or hoist to help you get up there
Just out of curiosity. Is that whole head hardened? I have heard sometimes maybe on axes they only tempered the edges on axes. I guess I’m asking if it still holds an edge. It’s a cool looking peice
View attachment 108155 Maybe I can squeeze one out of this. I think there’s one in there The crack doesn’t run very deep. Plenty long stick there. Prolly 4 foot. I’m airing it out a little before I try this

that crack is almost impossible to prevent. Especially when you have a good dry handle. She’s tight boss. I think you done a damn fine job.Put this in the wrong thread last night. Raffle axe is almost done, down to cutting the fawns foot and final sanding. The step wedge split the wood that’s mushrooming on the top but it’s ok, just a little ugly. Putting it in with more of an angle would’ve prevented it, lesson learned for when there’s 1/4” of handle sticking out. I think this is one of the best fits I’ve achieved, the ears on the bottom of this ax definitely make fitting a little trickier.
