So awhile back I bought a used Taurus 85 that had the barrel clocked to one side. Sent it off to Taurus, thinking it would be a quick fix. Anyhow, my dealer got a message back from them saying it couldn't be fixed, and I could pick out any firearm up to $514.00 MSRP to replace it, or pay the difference on any gun priced more than that. I really like my 856 and see they have an Ultra Light version with night sight and 3" barrel called the Defender with an MSRP of $526.99. So, my dealer is going to tell them to send that one. I am kind of disappointed that the 85 won't be fixed because I did like it, but at least I'm getting something that is hopefully better in return. The 3" barrel is a good compromise between the concealability of a snubnose and the easier shooting and higher velocity of a 4" K-frame size, and of course the 856 has 6 shots instead of 5. With my homebrew +P loads, it should make a good woods walking partner.

If the new taurus combat 66 gets under 500.00 I'll buy one nothing but great reviews and my local gunstore sold 2 to one customer he liked it so well
Several good reviews on YouTube for it also.
I have to have a hammer hopefully a version is released with one.

Yeah, I saw that and it looks pretty sweet. All my Taurus wheelguns have been good. The 85 I sent off was purchased used and it was accurate and reliable, just the POI didn't line up to the sights because of the barrel leaning to the right. My dealer called back and told me Taurus said the aluminum frame Ultra Light 856 Defender has been discontinued so they are going to send the regular stainless one instead.

I wonder if the 7 round 66 feels heavier than the old 6 round version. My Taurus 83 is a .38 Special built on the same frame as the 6 shot 66. It is slightly larger than a K frame, closer to L frame size but still uses K frame holsters just fine. But, it is about as heavy as I would want any holstered handgun to be, I think it weighs 37 ounces or so. I don't shoot any magnum handgun rounds so extra weight is not needed.

I finally got a vortex viper/venom/docter optics plate for my cz p10f IMG_20251002_182436581.jpg
If anybody need to buy an optics plate for the p10 series this is excellent
I bought a cheaper plate from another company that sucked
This one is oem to CZIMG_20251002_202528528.jpg
I did have to very slightly relieve the front edge of the plate but the viper fits perfectly and cowitness's with the iron sights.
I'll never understand how you can buy top quality docter or rmsc footprint red dots
Somewhat reasonablely under 100 00 around the holidays or sales
but
Any RMR quality dot is 2 or 3 time's more expensive.
I've had excellent service out of sig,Bushnell, primary arms, vortex and one
Very inexpensive cyclee cat dot
My RMR's are 50.00 cvlife that don't last long but they did replace them.
My top contenders for best affordable pistols are these CZ p10F and p 10c and Arex delta m
Ruger rxm and Taurus gx4 and gx4 carry
I've been shooting a lot more recently and have had no issues at all.
They run as well as my Smiths and Glocks.
