Put a hyway slug in it with some cabers just to see how well the potted cylinder runs

Was the base gasket removed? I've heard that kind of loud rattle after a high hour cylinder with a lip worn at tdc from the ring edge, then had the base gasket removed which let the ring tap over that lip edge on every up stroke.
I think I can still hear it while revving and cutting but who knows.
With piston slap that loud I have to wonder how the skirt can hold up with that kind of force, for that length of time, without either aluminum transfer shutting things down or grenading.

Gasket was still there.
