I picked this saw in a trade last night for a couple push mowers and a pressure washer, none of which I had interest in repairing. I thought the cylinder was scored, but once it turned, the cylinder and piston look great. Crank shaft feels like it has play in it though, so looks like I will tear it down and rebuild. 0520171634.jpg 0520171634a.jpg 0520171634b.jpg

A Red Lever 10 mm, about as good as it gets for an all around saw IMO. Often, with a gasket delete and timing advance, it will run with a lot of ported saws.

FYI, don't think that plug boot is original. Hope the cylinder is. I also like the original pistons with the wings on em if it is in good shape.

Soon as I get them running I'm gonna have to find a decent bar and chain to try them out with. I think all I have is a 16" or 18" Stihl bar, and that's just not going to be much of a test.

Well before I even started the other one, I got another one tonight. Not a 10mm, but I only needed the fuel tank and recoil anyway. I'm not sure the condition of this cylinder yet. And why is every 044 I get missing the fuel and oil caps?0525172049.jpg 0525172050.jpg
