Have you ran any Carlton recent? I got some that has tri link tie straps???
Carlton should not have TriLink tie straps.

Bailey's 'WoodsmanPRO' chain was rebadged Carlton for many years. A few years back, they started selling some TriLink chain under that name as well. Have to check each time.

Mine came in Carlton boxes. Not the woodsman pro. I used to buy it as well.

hmmm. Wish I remembered where I bought these. I’m thinking I’ll check to see if I saved the box. I’m no chain snob by any means just don’t prefer tri link. I hope you’re up to date Phil. I may have gotten shafted. I’ll see if I can find an internet image of box

I bougt a farmertec chain 84dl 3/8, could hardly file it a few teeth was almost as hard as the file.
Not worth it if you ruin a file each time you file it. Im sure it cuts fine after sharpening, so if you own a grinder not a problem.

I picked up a 100ft roll of 3/8 low pro and yes it needs good files. .

Also been thinking of getting a 404 roll from them aswell.

P.s. nice saab logo.

EBB50983-E2D2-4D8D-9D99-3DB4F5E14210.png That’s what the new box looks like. I zoomed in on the chain and it appears to be true Carlton. I cannot remember where I ordered but I got tri link straps. In that box. I’m gonna run it. But I’m not happy with it. Maybe someone pulled the switch a dope on me.

I hope that is what happened. If so dude is an a SS

That happens. Sometimes unintentionally; sometimes because they don’t give a ****; sometimes because they think that they can ‘get away with it’.

Good reason to inspect things on arrival, and to buy from somewhere that will back you up.

I got some very cheap chain also to try in 3/8 low pro cost less than $4 per chain I wasn't expecting much but after a little cutting/testing I'm pleasantly surprised.
So I ordered 6 more chains lol
Heres some pics out of the box it has some savage softwood hook/beak
and top plate angle cutting was terrible in hardwood grabby with bad vibration and jumping about in the cut.
After giving it a rub with a file and backing everything off for hardwood it cut nice smooth and fast the edge holds up well and stretch was nothing out of the norm not bad at all for such cheap chain.
For me to get the same type of chain in Stihl local it would cost me $55 for one chain! I've got 9 chains for $35 and it ain't to bad of a chain.

The links to ebay show 3/8LP chain. Is it LP or full size 3/8?
Oddly it is for the full size
I was curious what I'd get ordering the first one's.

I am just surprised, because my STIHL dealer does not discount, and I don’t recall paying that much for chains. Maybe prices have increased?

I frequently and informally “shop“ the ‘house brand’ chains at home centers, and farm stores, which are usually priced close to the Oregon brand chains.

Oregon and Carlton brand chains are frequently on sale, at different sites, and can be a good deal, if you watch and take advantage of those sales.

One local retailer (‘Menards’) has really good prices on Oregon chain, if you are satisfied with the basic styles. A spinner / breaker set makes a lot of those loops fit!

Because I scavenge and recondition used chains, I am probably set for a while!

All chain locally is too expensive

I'm set for life on chains for the 24"
I bought 9 of these generic
6 8ten 3 longer and have a pile of old stihl, windor, carlton, total and oregon.
And several dozen different 20" chains the upstart is my go to.
I only run 20" and 24"

How did it work?

Philbert

After finding metal in the tree

Found more metal with the 266xpIMG_20210405_165042.jpg
That's cable in the tree to the right
Above 6ft I used a 268xp with a fresh chain no metal in it.
