So, $10 / 84DL loop?

Not that hard to stamp out chain; Joe Cox started Oregon Chain in his basement. Challenge is to make high quality stuff consistently.

Interested to hear your findings.

I'm no expert on chains.
I haven't struck a file to this one yet
But I've yet to find a downside to china chain personally.
I've cut a lot the past couple years with the different brands
Especially upstart I wish they offered longer than 20" loops.
All of seem about oregon hardness
In my hands
And cut a bit slow a until a good handfile.
I'm thinking without paying for commercial packaging and branding
That's why this one is so inexpensive.

I wouldn't run a 30.00 loop of stihl rs
Cutting nail filled osb off of 2x6s
To save the lumber
But a 10.00 loop of china chain I would.

At 10$ a 24" loop go nuts, even better if You are satisfied with the quality!

I have yet to encounter a cheap chain that will feel acceptable new, sharpened and worn.

As with everything else on the market, I like that there are cheap/affordable alternatives available, it keeps the greed of the quality brand names at least a little at bay.

I don't go through enough loops to even bother with something like this anymore!
I tried Archer and TriLink and they don't work for me well enough.

Yes, I know - I sound like a broken record!
But consider this, what You save in cash is what I save in time - and to me my time saved using quality chains is more valuable than what I can save in cash buying sub par chains just to waste time messing with them.

Cheers :beer-toast1:

^ I appreciate good quality chains. But sometimes it can be interesting to try something like these. $10 is a low risk, even if total junk. If better than that, could be an OK deal for some guys?

But, remember that I was a guy willing to give HF grinders a ‘fair chance’!

There are some fast food restaurants that I go into every few years, just to remind myself why I don’t usually eat there. So, sometimes it is OK to satisfy your curiosity, and remind yourself of why you might choose something else.

I know that Archer is sold in reels, and the eBay seller ’ArcherPlus’ will make custom loops. Maybe this seller will too if you contact them.

Philbert
I emailed them year's ago 20" was their maximum
Another vendor probably offers longer versions at higher prices.

I bought 3 more today
If they are similar quality to the Archer or 8ten
They will raise in price
I used to to get those for 10-11.00 a loop
Now they are oregon priced.

I regularly see the TriLink chains, rebranded for Home Depot, Tractor Supply, etc. , priced so close to Oregon chains that it makes no sense.

I ‘recycle’ so many used chains that I don’t need to buy many new. For a work situation, I would go with the name brand stuff, ‘cause I know what I am getting.

For personal use, or curiosity, I can be open to try things.

Interested to hear your experience with these.

Myself don't need many chains right now am just using Stihl chains today and from my experience, they do a good job and remain sharp and a when little improvement is needed a quick filling of teeth and rakers is all that is needed.

And from reading forums dealing with using chainsaws for cutting firewood, the Stihl chains are highly regarded for quality of build and their cutting ability.

Not putting down anyone for using any chains made in China or anywhere else, if their cutting needs demand saving money and these chains get the job done at a lower chain cost there is nothing wrong with it.

Firstly: what quality and performance is there to be expected at 10$ for 84DL :confundio1:

Secondly: I sat on the *s-wordter posting that reply :D

Thirdly: I'm not the one with 26+k posts ;)

Fourthly: why the F are You so offensive when it comes to cheap ass chains, the two of us already brushed regarding this topic o_O

I use nice chains. I do however keep one specific saw with a loop of tri link or whatever always on there. I use it when I cut something I know is questionable. If it gets into nails or anything. I don’t care much.

Funny I usually bust a nail with my good chains though... I run both. I think I might like Oregon the most. For today at least

@Czed just to give you a hard time. They make some pretty decent circular saw blades to cut those pesky boards loose with. If you go fairly smooth they’ll cut nails clean. I’ve saved a 2x6 or few Specially with the prices of lumber now days. The circular saw blades are cheaper too

With no electricity or cordless tools on site
Do you fling the blades or take a hammer and chisel them?
