I got a little 3000 watt generator with a small gas tank. I would like to hook it up to my boat motor style 5 gallon fuel tank and mount it above it. Was wondering if the carb would be able to draw the fuel out. I would have as short as posible fuel line on it. The tank on it now is above carb gravoty fed. With the boat styly can it would have ro draw fuel up a foot befor it staets down. I dont see any problem why it wouldnt work. Just looking for other thoughts if it would work or not.

Once you have the fuel line is full it should siphon,,,unless there is a check valve somewhere and it cant overcome the spring,, but I doubt there is one.

Build a stand. I think it needs gravity

It's surprising that your generator only runs 2 hours on a full tank. We ran a 3500 watt baby generator for 10 days back in 2008, after Hurricane Ike winds knocked out power. As I recall, a full tank would run all night on a ~35-50% load.

Whether or not you do add an extra fuel tank, also consider adding a fuel filter between the tank & the carburetor. Mine had no filter, and it got mucked up once. I just stuck a lawn tractor fuel filter inline.

I'd take the bulb out of it and run just a straight fuel line with a fuel shut off valve

The tank is small. I think only 2 or 2.5 liters so its kind of a pain.
The fuel filter is a great idea i forgot all about that.
Powers on now thank gosh.
Gonna make a frame for ot to sit above it and gonnt put a T in fuel line with a shut off so i can run just the stock tank or big one dependng on what im doing.

May try it that would be handyer
It'll get it to the carb. Would work great if you sat there pumping the bulb to supply fuel to the bowl.

Once the float opens the needle, there needs to be a force to move the fuel, either gravity or a pump. If your existing tank is above the carb, they're using gravity, not a pump.

But it's sure worth a try. Hook it up on the ground and see
