cool dave i looked for results but didnt see anything
Congratulations man.... lucky dog!Did you hear, I won the 550xp giveaway today!
Lol. I always said that then hit a streak of winning guns.thanks. I never win anything.
I had to smooth out some damage, didn't really want to round my exhaust port roof at all but I did increase bevels. Basically did as little as possible to run again as close to original as I could without hanging a ring.Glad the cylinder was salvageable, and I'll bet that orig piston will be just fine.
Question: Did you modify that exhaust port, and if so how? Sounds like the saw is hitting some good RPMs.
How did it feel in the cut?
That's awesome. I love gun raffles.Lol. I always said that then hit a streak of winning guns.
Enjoy the saw!
A couple plain Jane guns and I won the NWTF gun of the year last spring. It's a real nice O/U.That's awesome. I love gun raffles.
I guess I lied earlier, I once won a marlin 336.
How about your scores?
Feels strong, but I've never ran anything above a 460 before so who knows.
Yep. A longer bar buried with an aggressive chain is where a 660 steps above the 1128s. I ran mine a bit yesterday after not firing it up for a few months--- just damn good saws that are reliable as hell.If it feels noticeably stronger than a 460 it is a good running 660. Many of them feel a bit lethargic, good torque by not a lot of speed. Ported ones, however, can turn into beasts!
It is not at all unusual for a 460 to out perform a 660 with bar lengths of 24 or 28". But the 660 is generally better with the longer bar (I'm talking stock saws).

I put mine together without the base gasket. 100% aftermarket. 3 ish seconds faster than a 461 in a 22 second cut in 24" beechFeels strong, but I've never ran anything above a 460 before so who knows.
