They still are great!
I'd forgotten all about them. My mom died when I was younger and
I haven't had any since she died.
I never made them for my kids when they were growing up, not quite sure why.
I'm tempted to make a batch of mashed potato's, just so I can fry some up.
Thanks for posting about them, it put a smile on my face and a craving in my belly.

i thought at the time it was a treat, mom would substitute sweet milk for water to make gravy. Now looking back we didn't always have the money to buy the milk. Fried chicken, potatoes, water gravy, homegrown tomato, biscuits, sweet tea I'll take it any day!!!

My mom used to make those with left over mashed potato's.
Fried in a little Bacon grease, they were great.

Make mashed potatoes into a hamburger size cake and fry in bacon grease, ( Damn I hungry ) Don't forget that Thanksgiving is coming! Amber coming home from college tomorrow , ( Good food a coming!!! )

i make chit on a shingle regularly or SOS it just lacks onions.
fry some ground beef use the drippings to make the gravy and mix it up and put over toast
you can add a fried egg if you want.

My latest version is fried burger and onions, drain, add a can of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, a little milk to thin, salt and pepper to taste. Good on toast, biscuits, mashed/fried potatoes.

Man this one made my mouth water. Now I need to send the wife away so I can make this as she don't do onions

We had some liver and onions last night, one of my favorites.

It smells amazing and I can not wait to try it out. I'm thinking the venison will make it much tastier
