There is no such thing as free firewood. There is also no such thing as a free tree. That's MHO.
Thanks for sharing.
I like your way of thinking WD, as a matter of fact, "that kinda applies to most things of value in life!":applaudit:

Thanks, and remember that in addition to equipment, work time. and fuel, injuries are really expensive. Firewood processing and arbor work are not risk-free cakewalks. Over the years my injuries have averaged about $900 apiece and that does not include the lost time while you heal up. I try to be careful, but accidents happen.

Yep!
I knew precisely what you were referring to.
BTW...what are some of the injuries you've suffered?

Injuries suffered:
(1) Two broken fingers, luckily in left hand, while using log splitter. Both fingers mashed under pressure.
(2) Torn miniscus cartilage on right knee. Still healing.
(3) Twisted right ankle that hobbled me for two months.
(4) Permanent back injury that resulted in spondylolisthesis.
(5) Broken toe on left foot.
(6) Several minor cuts and eye injuries, not worth mentioning.

That's about it, but there might be a few more. I've been told by loggers and climbers that this is peanuts compared to theirs.

Hmm...that's pretty serious business in my book.
Yet, I'm not out in the woods that much except for certain spells at a time.
Never been big on pain though! Matter of fact I will go to extraordinary lengths to dodge it. Crazy me...lol:cunaooooo:

Well, in my own defense, these happened over a 25-year period. So, figure about one accident every four or five years. But, it adds up regardless. My truck driving record is almost spotless by comparison. I take better care of my truck than myself.

I hear ya.
Got my own share of marks & wounds...
There is the ineveitable "wounds of warfare" that come with fooling around with chainsaws, splitters, tree's, and firewood.
In Economics they call it "Cost Association"...

My simple intent/focus of this thread is directed to the guy or family who don't have the means to pay $150 to 3oo freaking dollars for a cord of firewood!

I'm sure that is true. Just the other day a client asked me if I had mental issues and felt the need to cut myself. Well, I do have mental issues, been tested:sconf:, but don't cut myself on purpose. She said it was because of all the scares on my arms. LOL, just uncoordinated is all. Lack of death perception causes me to bump into things, a lot. I've had plenty of accidents and misfortune over the years so I feel your pain.

You don't recognize things that could kill you?
........that might be the underlying cause of men feeling the need to buy wedding rings......:smiley_1140:

Got me. I try to be careful doing that, but, I am who I am and that's all that I am.

I;m surprised you were able to lift them into that stacking position. You must have needed some weight-lifting exercise.

Nice collection. That will fill a pickup when split -- maybe overload it.

I wish I had sources for free firewood!

I wouldn't even care what species it is, I'd take them all.

Alas, no such thing as free firewood here in Croatia. :(
