It is very good to know that you have this kind of access to an economical alternative. I can't imagine the quality is any different from a modern Oregon, or GB Guide Bar.

I have a account with the company that manufactures these bars. They are my go to bar because of the price.

I went through two Oregon bars in one summer on my 346 a year or two ago. I put on a "green" label bar on it and I've cut at least three times the wood that those two Oregon bars have cut and the Forester bar is still going strong.

I've yet to try a Platinum grade one, I'd like to know how well they hold up.

The platinum's are better than the red labeled ones, the rails hold up better. I'm hoping they start making them for more applications than they are currently, be nice to have .325 & 3/8 in small mount and some in 28"-36" in large mount

I think the largest in Platinum is 24", no? Even the red ones don't go much larger if any. My only Forrester bar is the cheap one that comes with the semi chisel shark fin chain. I ground the fins off the chain and have no problems so far with either

I guess it's something to consider just figured I didn't have much to offer being relatively new to the whole chainsaw forums and such. I set up an account with them for my own savings and to pass on to a few friends and my family

I have a two green forester laminate bars 16"&20" and a solid red RSN 20" bar. I think the green laminates are pretty good perhaps better than some of the Oregon / Carlton laminate bars. The solid RSN I have not put enough hours in to fairly judge but I think Forester make a decent product at a really good price. Stihl 'E' bars cost 3x the price and I am not sure they are better quality by a significant margin.

Heck, Oregon bars cost 3x the money as a Forester bar and my Foreater bars Re running at least 2x longer than what the Oregon bars are that I've used.

Its fair to say 'you pay for what you get' but I think with many bar producers going to Asia these days Forrester is an exception to that rule. The high end Sugi, Tsumura & Cannon's are still top notch. I find some bargains can be had buying NOS bars like the made in Germany Carlton speed tip's, Windsor speed tip's from Canada etc. I just bought two NOS German Carlton's for just over $100au delivered on EBay. I like the Stihl laminate 'e' bars but only use them as they come with new saws. The 'e' light's are really light but for the price Stihl one can do better with replacements.
