Foredom handpiece walking off

Anyone have the problem of the handpiece walking off the shaft constanly? Just got a new shaft and sheath and it still does it.

The ball and latch spring on the handpiece should keep it on the sheath. Do you have a picture of the handpiece?

It's just the regular foredom handpiece with changeable collets. The weird thing is I can move the flexshaft back and forth inside the sheath.

The set screw on the cable where it fastens to the motor shaft may be loose

The set screw is tight and about 1/16" from the bottom of the threads off the motor.

You may need to adjust the sheath on the motor so you have the proper stick out of the drive key.

The proper stick out and how to adjust is in the instruction manual that comes with the foredom. I think it's 3/4".
