When I did changed out the carburetor I installed a orange stihl filter. Correct me if I'm wrong. Doesn't the orange filter better for the m-troinc system? I'm about to swap out the tank to the oem 046. To bad it won't look clean in comparison šŸ¤£ oh well

I don't know how well you'll be able to see it. My screen is a little messed up so I can't really see the quality of my pictures.. The crankcase is full.... This is definitely weird. šŸ¤£

Yes, orange filter better.
If it makes you feel any better, I had an 036 go through the same thing as yours and in as many times. Fourth time was a charm.

Hopefully the same can be said for this 046. I just finished this 440 literally 1 minute ago. Completely disassembled replaced all the seals all rubber components and ported it. These 400 series Stihls are pretty badass saws. I did also very recently did a 038 magnum clone for a friend of mine who drives truck. Pretty much welded a stack pipe on it šŸ¤£ 205 psi i don't recall timing numbers but for a clone it's one hell of a saw PXL_20241212_143248895.jpg

Hmm, do you have an impulse nipple going into the case (just below the intake boot - the boot is blocking me from seeing if you have one there or not. If so, I wonder if somehow the fuel is backflowing through the impulse nipple and just filling the cylinder. I don't remember if you mentioned which saw this is, but the initial pic with the open muffler looks like my 046 and 066 - and some 034/026s I have worked on which all had the impulse nipple there.

I'm pretty sure it's below and to the side a inch. It's a holzfforma Crankcase (OEM bearings and seals) new West crank shaft everything else OEM 046. Can't afford OEM case and crank shaft as of this moment. I actually ordered the full kit saw and the very next day a 046 was plopped in my lap. As well as a 250. It was a Weird coincidence
