turning into AS all over again..........

No sir. Not on my watch. We have the best members on the planet here on OPE. A couple of posts taken out of context sure ain't the end of the world.

Vince, that's some nasty carnage my friend. Best I've seen in a while. So, you think you might have left the clip out? If so, you are not alone, I've done it too.

Guilty as charged, MS 660 Brand new top end, never even fired, caught the bridge and locked solid!

I'm carp with the written word as well when I said lost c clip I ment piston lost it as in worked loose and fell out, was just trying to help work out what happened and get to the bottom of it..hope I wasn't taken as being malicious in anyway.. You do fine work on saws Vince don't let this set you back one of the best practices you can do as a mechanic is get to the bottom of a engine failure builds your knowledge tenfold.

None taken at all rogue. I knew what ya meant. [emoji6] lucky I got all the parts to rebuild it. But that won't be for a little while.
*s-word happens sometimes. At least she went out in style lol. And we got to see some good carnage shots. It's been a while [emoji12]

Everyone likes to see the carnage when it isn't their mess.

I am FARKIN glad I never bought it of you!

Ouch!!!!

You should be able to put a shifter on that rod and straiten it out?

I will give you $50 posted for it :)

gee thanks for the vote of confidence! I'll make sure i never have any dealings with you with that sorta attitude.
its clearly a mechanical issue due to the c clip popping out or even me forgetting to put one in!

had you bought it i would have put a tank thru it first and this would have still happened to me. at the time of death, this saw had a total of 1 or 2 minutes run time since the rebuild.
as i said, clearly i have frenchied up!
I live by the word and practices of Randy. anything out of the norm that goes kaput, send it back and i will make right or full refund.
as to the $50.. use it to wipe your arse.

BaHaHaHaHa.

To both of you.

Eeekkkkkk! To the 084.

Ahhhh the old "text with no tone of facial expression taken out of context" trick.

Mate I have total faith that all would have been well had I bought it from you as it would be if its was reversed.

This is is why I like to run a tank through all I rebuild first too!

I rarely have one that doesn't need something I missed corrected, I was just having a stir....... That's what us Aussies do right?

As an aside:
Nothing is worse than finding an extra piston pin retainer in the bench after you've done a top end swap.

"Did I or didn't I???

I finished buttoning up an engine only to notice a couple of PUSH RODS sitting on the bench. How in the Hell do you forget those??

Fingers crossed the impact that bent the rod hasn't stretched the bearing housings in the case

the crank is pretty tight atm. not sure why.. must be slightly bent, but will update here when i strip it down.;)

My other thing I forget is to tap the case locating pins back into place on stihls.

I am thinking of making a simple list to hang on the wall at my bench to refresh my memory with.

Case pins
Wrist pin clips
Tighten flywheel nut
Undies then pants
Socks then shoes
Breakfast then beer

I put a clutch in a Mack once, the one with the seven foot long transmission that you have to use TWO heavy duty transmission jacks to get it out. I was tightening the last bolt and guess what hits me in the back of the head....
