C Dave, that splitter looks just like mine. Now, when your wheelbarrow needs new handles, you gotta free saw them out of hardwood with the chainsaw!

I used a piece of Hard Maple about 6" diameter, quartered it with the chainsaw and ended up with 4 handles. Beat the crap out of paying $20+ each for them!

Yea, the bottom was also not so solid (I brought a thrown out wheelbarrow back to life) so I put a piece of 1/4 treated plywood on the bottom, put large washers on the bolts, then deck screwed the plywood to the handles. It is solid as a rock and my favorite wheelbarrow. The plywood really deadens the effect of throwing rocks or wood into it.
