IMHO, JB Weld has a limited scope of use. Over time it will crack and fail, guaranteed.

McMaster Carr used to have a table with several Devcon selections and what they were all best suited for.

I repaired a McCulloch 125 cylinder with JB Weld once and it did an excellent job. Devcon is great in many applications as well. I've also ported through the intake on a jug and had to back up a bit with a glob of JB Weld.

To enhance adhesion: Clean exceedingly well with a solvent, then take a fine Scotchbrite wheel and scrub the entire surface where the adhesive will be. Doesn't take a lot, and you're not trying to sand, or score the surface, per se. Blow off any dust, but do not wipe the surface again. Now, apply the epoxy. The Scotchbrite treatment creates an electro-static bond; one that will exceed that of the epoxy alone.

I like to bead blast the area to be epoxied. This really opens up some fresh aluminum

At the mill I work at general repairs are done with devcon but when they need something better they go to the locked storage with a supervisors key and get the Belzona out for the tough repairs. All the millwrights swear by the Belzona

Im really not sure Deets but lately ive used belzona upon being recommended by the guys at work as they say when the goin gets tough thats what they use
