I don't have any close deals at all but I have several in an hour radius that I have been calling to see if they have any project/ parts saws they want to get rid of. No such luck yet! Well I called a dealer yesterday and he said last year he got rid of them all and quite taking them he said he hauled 600 saws to the dump! WTF! That's pretty much my luck a day late and a dollar short.

They say that to watch you squirm. Most if not all will sell all that stuff to buyers who show up with a big box trailer and pay a good couple thousand bucks for the entire haul.

At 600 saws there must have been some hidden treasure's among them!
Real shame about that haul. :(

I imagine it would have been interesting to dig through a pile of saws looking for a diamond in the rough. ;)

Here in my area "junk" is being sold at premium prices, if unsellable it gets smashed before it gets thrown away just so someone doesn't make use of it.
Dumpster diving is mostly common for bottles - about 7 cents worth a piece.

I don't know if you have a local "Craig's list" like site or paper, but what I did was posted a barter ad to get rid of stuff I didn't want for trade of chainsaw projects, parts, etc. Next thing I know I'm tradeing with a guy for 10 or 15 saws and 2 of them were Stihl 044s. And he has a bunch more. Sometimes it's just getting someone's attention that opens the floodgate.

I'd say may 7-10 is all. mostly 024/026 one 660 an older one?
He hasn't let me in his big saw (shop junk) yet ? That's where the 044 and up are ? I got lucky on the 660.
That looks like a good honey hole, hope he lets you in the big saw room soon.

From what I saw, there's a few nice saws in his small saw inventory. Stihl 290 saws still bring pretty good money..
