I haven't used my 7310 much at all yet, just a few tanks. Tinkering with it today, I noticed something that I found odd. There is a screw on the right side of the metal wrap handle, between the clutch cover and carb adjustment port, that is threaded through the handle but doesn't screw into anything else. It just protrudes into a well or depression in the side of the saw case. It looks like there may be a buffer or something missing, especially since there appears to be holes for two screws (that have never had anything threaded into them) that might hold the buffer or retainer in. Since this saw has a spring anti-vib system, I'm thinking the screw inside the well must act as a motion limiter, to keep from "springing" the anti-vib system if the saw gets hung and yanked on, say. Or is there something missing from my saw? The IPL doesn't show anything that goes here that I can find. The handle breakdown just describes the bolt as something generic ("Bolt, M5x30" or something similar) without specifying function.

Anyone else with this saw, does yours look like this, too?

It is a range limiter. There is nothing missing. You could slip some fuel line over it, because they do wear into the aluminum over time if it spends a lot of its life actually limiting the anti-vibe range.

Thank you, sir, that's what I suspected but wasn't sure. The fuel line idea is a good one, I appreciate it.

Yeah, I have come across a few of those and while putting the saw back together looking around for a loose AV buffer or something...usually a quick look at the IPL confirms I am wasting my time... :D
