echo cs-501p stalling

I recently purchased the cs-501p and used it once. It ran fine. About a month later it will start fine and cut, but when i release the trigger, it dies. it has fresh gas. Any thoughts on the problem? I cant take it back to the dealer, but if I am making a silly mistake, I would like to know. By the way this isn't my first chainsaw.

Is it new or did you buy it used?

Echo tends to set the idle speed fairly low from the factory on those saws. Try turning the idle screw up half a turn. It is located right by the starter handle on the shroud below the air filter cover.

I had the same issue with a new CS4910. I simply adjusted the idle speed faster by turning the screw about a half-turn clockwise. The OP may need more or less to reach a stable idle speed. Just be sure to keep it below the speed at which the chain begins to turn.

If it is a new saw, I would take it back to a dealer; otherwise, you will void the warranty.

Adjusting the idle speed will not void the warranty. The owner's manual even shows how to adjust it.
