There is a used saw I kind of want in Canada. Do I need to pay the stupid 35% Tariff on it? Has anyone experienced this?

I'm not trying to turn this into a political war here. This is just a question. If I need to pay another $300 on top of the cost of the saw, I might just say F it and move on.

Thanks

No experience with it personally, but AI says it won't be included with the purchase but the shipper will charge you for it.

That's what I read using google too, but then I read somewhere it depends on the HS (Harmonized System) tariff code?? I gave up. Someone else can have it.

Something just changed a couple days ago that smaller purchases are no longer exempt from the tariffs. At least that is how I interpreted an article I read a couple days ago. If I find it again, I will try to repost it.

Even tariffs on stuff from Puerto Rico now. Aren't they still a U.S. Territory legally?

Would be nice to see some solid information.
I was looking at plastic crates (milk crate types) on Ebay last night.
Ebay search page said it was a U.S seller. But when I clicked that actual listing, you got that tariff warning and a mention that the product was sourced/located in multiple locations. What the heck?
I couldn't seem to find an Ebay link that actually explained it though.
Considered messaging the seller, but I didn't. Almost thinking just grab some more corrugated boxes locally. Not as durable, but you can cut & re-tape boxes to better fit your shelf spots if need be. I just raided my Sisters empty shopping channel boxes for a long time.

I have quite a bit of experience with importing and exporting saws and tools for 3 decades. I have never paid a tariff, duty, tax etc. on received packages until February 10, 2025 Now I want to be clear folks that I sent items to have paid their countries fees. In February UPS decided to take advantage of the political situation and charge illegal fees. I went round and round with them and in the end they refunded about 50%. They told me how to avoid it on future imports. I followed their instructions and they nailed me harder on the next parcel. Of course I went round and round again with them but they claimed "the rules have changed" It was purely UPS taking advantage not regulations.

With that being said...........https://www.posti.fi/en/latest-news-at-posti/%20/news/trump-administration-decision

I regularly order OEM parts from the UK if I can’t find something stateside. It’s never more than $800 so it’s been ‘tax free’ as far as import charges.

Future shipments will be subject to a 10% tax on delivery. I am unsure how the US government is collecting this though yet. The percentage will vary by the origin country. (Imports from the UK are 10%)

This puts us in line with a lot of countries that can’t get their shipments without paying the tax man first. They do have thresholds also but they are normally a lot lower that the US.

All in the name of fighting those shipments of $1 clothing from Temu 😁

I just went back to Ebay and tried, again, to get a useful answer about the amount that would be due at delivery.
I put three crates in my shopping cart and went all the way up to ready to click the "Buy Now" button. I did not make the purchase though.

It just puts this message across the top of the page.
But Ebay did not indicate which country the crates would be shipped from.
So no way to even guesstimate what the tariff will be.

" Due to US policies, import fees for this order will need to be paid to customs or the shipping carrier on delivery. "

and a URL to this page, but no answers about calculating or even a "swag" about the percentages.
Maybe my browser settings are blocking something, But I don't see any tables or rates or links for calculating the price.
