I never could figure out why @MustangMike liked em so well. Especially since he counts every ounce of what a saw weighs. DP cover adds about a pound lol

I read that it adds 6 lbs, enlarging the opening and adding a wider weave screen takes it to 5lbs and makes the saw so much easier to use 2 times a month on a Saturday for a few hours, and especially if you have to make 1 tough cut.

Mike Lee told me that so it's obviously true.

And what real gtg is next month????????????????????
Every winter a local Farm/Logging Equipment repair guy opens up his shop to about 40-50 local loggers/farmers and hosts a GTG inside.
Last year my 7900 clean house except for a 3120 that I helped “improve” and a stock.
And there were a lot of saws there.
This year, I’m helping “improve” the 880.
Senor @Definitive Dave is helpin.

Did I mention this guy collects saws? Not like Uncle Lee, but he has some cool stuff.

He looked at my race chain all googly eyed.....until he ran it. They couldn’t believe that little 7900 was as fast as it was.

What would be a good first step - open up the existing single port, or add a DP cover? The 044 I have runs well as it is, but I would be happy with a little more.

The dp covers on the 440/460 are not heavier, and those are the ones I mentioned.

However, instead of buying dp covers for any of them, I have found that a couple of 1/4" holes on the high/clutch side of the cover seem to do just as well (on the 460/461). On my 066 I also drilled some holes on the other side and added a deflector. I don't bother with a screen for the small holes.

They seem to work just fine.

The China junky DP stuff wieighs less then the OEM, that's the easy way without screwing your lovely OEM

But they don't do DP for every saw, like the 260,
