My pump drive is ok, i may just get the rebuild kit and new lines to save me some money, thanks for the reply.Check Your saws oil pump drive.
No, these saws are not prone to oil pump failures.
Try Nate's shop:

Oil pump repair kit should do the trick if there is any pump defect.
The control bolt is plastic, as well as the nub on the end, and the nub wears off. Out of 20 that I've worked on 3 needed an oiler rebuildReaching out for help to you makita guys. I have a pretty clean 6421. It just quit oiling. Ive checked the drive is ok, the lines are clear. All i can get out of it is just some random spurts every so often, nowhere near enough to oil the chain in the wood. Are the oil pumps prone to failure on these? Do i just need to bite the bullet and buy a new pump and lines. Or is there something else i should check first

You're not alone. I've oafed 2 of them. Make the tool fit tight to the hubWell i just ordered a rebuild kit along with new oil lines and a new clutch bc some oaf compromised it getting it off. (May have been me lol). Need to modify a sparkplug socket like ive seen in other threads to make that job easier.
