I haven't seen one of those original style springs on a saw since probably 2004.They are all the same, the older ones were weaker and that is the version he has that busted.
Awesome Jack, thank you sir! I owe you.Hi Mason, I just looked in my Dolmar/Smurf (sorry Makita) parts. I have the 7900 spring and clamp for you. I will put it in a padded USPS bag and send it to you and drop it off at the post office tomorrow morning. You may receive it on Monday if it doesn’t snow too bad.
Jack
You the man, drive safe!Mason, I just finished packaging the parts. I also included a T25 torx thin wall bit used to loosen the inside screw in the spring. Once you see the bit, you will understand what I mean.
I am making a trip now to the Main Post Office in Rhode Island and dropped off the package. This Main Post Office close at 9:00pm. Snow is starting tonight, so I am trying to beat it......

Just went thru the same thing about 2 weeks ago. Ordered from Nate also & back on the goFinally popped the weak older design 7900 spring mount. Which is a known weak point. Oh well it gives me a excuse to upgrade to the stronger updated one.View attachment 168225
