There is no right or wrong answer. One way has more piston support and different things going on. When the piston changes so does the whole air/fuel entry surrounding the transfer primary.

Yeah that area is useless for piston support, the skirt is no where near the area that is to be removed.

That makes sense. Are you keeping the stock zama carb or upgrading? That is the next subject I’m interested in hearing about in this thread. Seems like the stock zama is ok for a worksaw. I know I’ve heard the common hd12 swap, pole man modded zama, rwj swap or a 385xp carb.

I sent my stock carb of to @Poleman I am very satisfied with it. It is in front of a @Miller Mod Saws, build.

I'm for sure going to keep the zama. The tutorial @Poleman did is super detailed. I'm going to run the saw first with the stocker...and see if I need a 35-35 or a 30-35 or a 30-40, I'm unsure

I'm certain the zama is plenty of carb. Messing with linkage and trying to make another fit doesn't seem worth it.

I haven’t ran a non ported 70cc that can stomp my ported 562 with a 20” bar. 60cc is a great size to get ported.

My 562 was beating a ported 460 in 20” wood... but I am open minded . Awol builds quite the 562.

I was very impressed with the MMWS 6100 that I ran today. Very strong and fast. Smooth too.
