We’ll see..

I have to decide depending on the carving material...

It either works or it don’t.

I have whiskey either way.. so it’s a win, win for me..
I could bring you some bribery material. ...m

There’s some “feel” in that area.

Case compression is good in some saws to a point, then backwards you go:.

A fast saw should feel “free”, and loose..

Quick from mid to top, but not necessarily from idle to mid..

It’s hard to explain.

Don’t need 200 lbs of comp to get there either.

Though 200 lbs of comp works great in most work saws though.
"Feel" is perspective.

The av mount on the cylinder to the handlebar of the older 7900’s was a known weak point supposedly if pinched and yanked on or running a long bar. The newer improved style has a limiter built into it. “Popping” the av mount is what I meant. “Popping” from too much advance is a different thing all together.

Had an issue where my kill switch popped apart on the back side and the saw wouldn't start. Still don't know why or how it happened, but it was a quick worksite disassemble and repair and I was back to cutting. Next time I made it to Nate's shop I picked up a spare switch just in case it ever happened again. Asked him of any other known failure prone items and he mentioned the av mounts. Picked up a set so I'd be ready and waiting if needed. That was over two years ago and they're still in a bag at the shop, along with the spare kill switch. 6401 with original av mounts still going strong. Have a feeling those parts are going to be waiting for a some time yet.

I keep studying this slabside piston, nice looking piece. The wrist pin is amazingly light looking. I wonder if it’s tapered? I believe the ring is a 1.2mm if I’m not mistaken, that surprised me too. Less friction than a 1.5734A2C52-7E9E-4CBA-9D59-377B900B05C6.jpeg

Thanks for starting this thread it is one of the best in a while.

Hopefully it doesn't get mucked up too bad.

A lot going on there big question is if it is an improvement over the 7900 piston. The 7910 was decreased in power was this part of it? Why would they switch? Cheaper manufacturing?

Cylinder AV limiter will not be engaged till the operator yanks extremely forcefully on the saw while the bar is pinched.
Part number is 038 310 070 , costs about 8€.

Everyone seems to be complaining about insufficient oiling, I don't know what all the fuss is about. o_O

Dolmar PS-7310, 20" 3/8" .058" 72DL B&C setup, fairly worn round filed Dolmar 099 chisel chain with polished rivet heads, semi seasoned turkey oak firewood log, two cuts show the chains self feeding capabilities.

I pushed a little too hard and pulled the engines rpm down, the self feeding cuts appear to be the fastest ones.

They seem to have a pretty friendly torque curve for work.

My PS-7310 is my new favorite play saw, she's pulling really nicely!

She will be getting new clutch shoes.
I did replace the drum but she is still suffering from slippage - that will be remedied.
