Problem with the 9000/9010 is the same as the echo 800p, while they are fine saws, they weigh as much as a 394/395 and the parts are cheaper and more readily available generally.
I wood much rather have the dolkita over a 8000/800p.

Booth weigh the same as a 394/395 basically was my point though.
The difference is the 9000/9010 is a 90cc saw with 90cc weight and power. The echo is a 80cc saw with 90cc weight and 80cc power. I’m sure the echo is a good, tough and overbuilt saw for the cc’s though.

While doing some basic maintenance on my Dolmar PS-7300 I noticed she is partially defective - the oil pump driver is half way worn off, one side is gone entirely and the other side is showing significant wear.
For reference I purchased this unit extremely abused (some idiot cut rubber with her, oil pump was defective and clutch fried), the complete oil pump assembly and the entire clutch was replaced by me with new OEM parts.
One side of the driver showing excessive wear

The oteher side of the driver worn off entirely

Considering that this particular saw has seen much less usage in my possession (after fixing her) than my PS-6400/7310/7900 I find it troubling that the oil pump driver is already almost completely gone.
I will have to keep an eye on it and reduce usage of this unit till I get a replacement driver.

Has anybody else encountered this issue on their large frame Dolmar/Makita?

Are the shims correctly installed? If not, the clutchdrum might be a little to close to the pump driver
and cause friction. Could be the brake band as well if not seated just.

Having all the washers in place is very important on these saws.
I suspect as much! :(

On these units the "current" clutch drum design is way out of alignment to the bars tail, as such I "modified" the "current" replacement drum to bring the sprocket back into alignment to the bars tail.

My modification may have brought the drum too close to the oil pump driver causing the drum to rub through the drivers wings. :(

I will either further modify the current drum, or I may try source the initial NLA drum design which is perfect in all and any ways!

The current drum is crap, shame on Makita!
While I am at it with ranting, Makita also f-ed up the "current" chain tensioner on these saws!

P.S./EDIT:
And before I get shunned that I have no clue what I am talking about, maybe the rest of You did not take a look at Your saws clutch drums as close as I have!

The "current" clutch drum places the sprocket so much out of alignment that the chains DL's eat up the bars tail.

Take a look at Your saw(s) before commenting.

The "current" drum design is the one with the pressed in needle bearing featuring an outer steel cage/friction surface.

The only sprocket I’ve had out of alignment on these newer drums... is a 9 pin 3/8. The 9 pin is too wide and doesn’t allow enough float with the fat rivets on it to align right. It works for a quick race or two... but not something I would run for very long. 7 and 8 pin 3/8 as well as 7 pin .404 works just fine for me on them in the real world.

I only have Oregon 7 & 8 pin, 7 pin being my standard work sprocket and the 8 pin being less than a play setup.
Both are out of alignment for my taste when the current drum is utilized. o_O

Maybe it's just me.
Wouldn't be the first time that I am over thinking things.

I will get new oil pump drivers and I will try source the old NLA drums - that should resolve any issues I have with the drums & drivers. ;)

Your fine, I don’t see a problem on the numerous ones I have had here or on my personal saws. I cut 375,000+ bd feet on a 7301 this winter and only replaced the oil pump driver because it cracked. Still had life left on the drive tabs... they weren’t cut through yet. Imo I like the newer drum better than the one with the cheap stihl style plastic drum bearing like my 7900 has that will wear out faster. The newer one is a all metal drum bearing.

Decent sized turkey oak log, had next to no knots and split easy with my dragon slayer ax.
