@dustinwilt68 - is the black saw powder coated? Seems like a texture in the finish? Also is anyone else running a tillotson on these? I want to rework the choke so it works normal with the factory choke lever.

Yes sir the black saw has been powder coated. I have the next color variation ready to send out

Got the 7900, half wrap and dawg on, got the next set of cases ready to send for their new color too. Just have to order new tank and plastics, might do another heated handle saw, not sure yet.

Update with the heated handle 7301. Its hard to keep track... but I cut roughly 375,000-475,000 bd ft. (sawlogs and firewood combined) on this saw over the winter. Rebuilt the oiler one time, new fuel filter, starter rope and a new oiler drive gear were the only things I replaced. Only the muffler mod, oiler mod and a roller catcher were the only things that were needed in my opinion for my use. Really a tough saw. I took care of it... but it definitely got ran hard. She owes me nothing. It sits on the shelf drained for it’s summer slumber. It will go back to the log woods next winter (it is my winter saw). For the price point of the dolkita they are great for someone who doesn’t want to spend a grand on a fancy saw with mtronic ect... but wants something that is proven, simple and will hold up.

I hope to take this saw to a million ft. timber cut.

Yep Jeff, full out builds, booth will be heated handle saws, the green, my saw will get all new plastics while the blue will get some great used plastics, booty dyed to match best as possible. The blue is another members. Booth will be ported.

Does anyone here know when the 7900 was released and the predecessor to it.

The 7900 was introduced in 2001. As far as predecessors go, I’ll refer to Steve @166 for the history lesson. Lol.

There is no direct predecessor to the series 6400/7300/7900. The line of saws was a new construction
that was undertaken in partnership with SOLO. That's the reason why the SOLO 674 and 681 are so
similar to the Dolmars: basicly the same saws.

In addition to my previous post: If you look at the positioning in the line-up of DOLMAR saws
you'll consider the 123/133/133 super/143 as predecessors of the PS-6400/7300/7900
model line: Both were at their time the power user's choice of saws but not exactly top of
the range: As with the PS there still was the PS-9000/9010 and with 123/133/143 we had
153 and 166 and even the CT at the very top end of the food chain.

Problem with the 9000/9010 is the same as the echo 800p, while they are fine saws, they weigh as much as a 394/395 and the parts are cheaper and more readily available generally.
