I wouldn't go that far, no question is dumb if you don't know the answer. @RI Chevy

Kevin's comment just made me laugh, my type of humor I guess.

P.S. There are more pages of HD is slower than standard filter than you can shake a stick at...

If I was running a saw all day like that you can bet your bottom I'd be running the hd set up also.

It seems to flow better than an HD2, and not pack much at all with my foam prefilter. And I know the Husqvarna filter are generally great, but I’ve had them passing a lot of bark dust fines, and so far this hasn’t whatsoever. It isn’t super harsh conditions however.

Not sure if I should dare ask. But do you have any photos of the foam pre filter?
This made me LOL also....
I think you are safe for now, I don't think tree monkey has access to a computer right now!!

I tried it without the prefilter, and it got more in there. I’ve got some Outerwears prefilter material than I am going to try to make a prefilter with. I think that will be better than the foam as long as it seals well.

View attachment 188257 View attachment 188258 View attachment 188259 My first Makita. I was debating about it for awhile. There are almost none in these parts. I have 7 production days on it now, and so far, I absolutely love it. Pulled the extensive baffle system out, and opened up the muffler, and I like it a lot. The best stock air filter system that I have used. I made my own foam pre-filter that seems to work much better than the felt one. Am running a 32 on it. Hopefully it’ll hold up, but I don’t really see why it won’t have a good working life.
Don’t pry on it and that saw won’t give you problems. The AV isn’t as strong as the 572 or 462.

Also, check out the size of the flywheel... huge compared to a 372 or other 5 cube saws. That has to help the torque greatly imo. They made it heavier I think because the piston and crank are super light. Not much reciprocating mass. If they put a light flywheel on it... it probably wouldn’t be as impressive in torque.
