Isnt the thickness of the clutch drum different? I remember taking a farmtec 024 drum on my table top belt sander because it was rubbing bad on the case and I was unable to snap the clip on. I had to remove quite a bit if I remember correctly.

This one did not either. It was noticeably thinner than the one on my 026Pro. I think the notch is only for the adjustable oiler models.

Edit beat me to it

So the fixed oiler drums and the adjustable oiler drums are not interchangeable?

stihl saws

You can always justify another saw.

but the original stihl drum doesn't have a notch and the saw oils fine.
I misunderstood your problem. The drum for the adjustable oiler is different than the drum for the standard oil pump. They are different widths. If you have a adjustable pump, you must have the drum with the notch.
I'll post pics of both, with measurements tomorrow.

My 50 dollar 024 is not adjustable and it puts out plenty enough oil for the 16" bar . It's an oem rim drive so it has to have an oem rim.

Good Luck.

I had an 028 or 029 a few years ago, & had to go to eBay as that was nla from Stihl.

029 parts are still readily available at most dealers.

The reason the drums are different is because of the oil pumps and drivers.
The 024 uses a round driver that has no "tang" arm and the pump starts oiling as soon as the saw is started.
The 026/260 adjustable pumps take the sprocket cup with the notch because it uses a driver (with a "tang")that is actuated when the clutch is engaged

Yes the cups are sized different because of the pump and driver design.
You ought to look on Ebay for an OEM or a Oregon rim set up for your saw -- that is a much better option.
