Good luck with this ,i gave up after 30 min of being bounced around to different people once .It only works if put a cash value and pay higher shipping also when you ship .

Heres how it goes.

I sold mike ( edwad ) my hybrid.
Shipped it monday
He received it today.
Called me and told me the handle was busted
I insured it for 700 dollars.

Ive never filed an insurance claim in my life so i have no clue how this goes..i called and they looked at my account and took my info and said they will be in touch and an inspector will be out to take a look.

Im going to pay for a new tank handle on my own dime to keep this dude happy as soon as it can be done.

I called a fellow syndicate sawing associate ( big t double ) since he lives 100 miles or so from mike and hes gonna put it on for him after the inspector does whatever he does...thats why teddy is one of my dawgs.

I wouldve told him to send it immediately but we have to wait to hear from UPS.

im pissed..real pissed

I filed a claim once and it was a breeze. Although it took about a month to get reimbursed.

In my case, bars escaped the package.

In your case, seeing that the whole saw isn't shot, I dont know if you'll get your $700. I am guessing you will need to figure out a cost for a new handle and a repair.

One thing to keep in mind, I believe there is a 10% processing fee that comes off the money you will receive. (So take that into account when you come up with a price....;)) I wish I knew that before hand.

Did the UPS pick it up from your house or did you go to a drop off location of some sort?

If you dropped it off to a business that UPS picks up from and you have a good relationship with them, maybe they could help with the filing. A business has more clout than a individual.

UPS will inspect the packaging to make sure it complies with their "recommendations" for shipping OPE. These include the strength of the box, plus a minimum of 2" of cushioning surrounding the object being shipped.

If your packaging didn't comply, expect to have your claim rejected.

See:

https://www.ups.com/packaging/guidelines?loc=en_US

...and...

https://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/ship/packaging/guidelines/how_to2.html

It shipped in a stihl box and i packed the *s-word out of it..there wont be an issue there.

Sounds good. Hopefully they won't be twits about requiring a NEW cardboard box.

Whenever I shipped rifles to buyers, I'd package them in a hard plastic case, packed inside a brand new Uline cardboard box. Just to avoid hassles, in case something happened.

80 an hour labor and parts. Youl have a few extra $ to compensate for the hassle of having others fix it
