What engine? Sorry I didn’t watch the video.
If it is the single cylinder Briggs engine, most likely the ACR on the camshaft failed. It is a small spring loaded weight that reduces the engine compression during cranking. These are a very common failure item, and they can fail at any time, especially if the engine has kicked back during startup. Pulll the OHV cover and make sure the lower valve (intake) is bumping open when the piston is reaching TDC on the compression stroke. If it isn’t, then the ACR has failed.

This will be interesting, I think I have the same if not similar mower and it is doing the same thing. It failed last fall and I have not gotten back to it. I need to get a new batter before diving deeper, but had used it and tried it again the next day and no start.

Here's report so far:
1. Found out how to kick start (
)
to get mower out of the walnut grove
2. Tried the magnet on a wire probe to try and locate ACR pieces in pan = no conclusive result
3. Adjusted valves: No joy.
So, despite #2 failure, I'm figuring it must be the ACR failure.
4. Ordered new OEM Crankshaft with ACR from PartsTree = $135 delivered
Not easy to locate a small engiine repair shop in our area and everyone is pricey these days.
[the John Deere Dealer in adjacent county has shop rate = $210/hr and quotes job as 5 hrs]
[ local guy is $85/hr and estimates 4-5 hours with initial diagnostics @ $75]
In any case, not easy to transport the D110.
Maybe I'll have to tackle it myself. We'll see.

I have an older tiller that has a Briggs engine, since it wasn't working (found it at the dump) I figured what can it hurt to take it apart, clean everything really good and put it back together. It wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be and was able to clean everything up really well. My biggest worry was the condition of the carb, but that didn't turn out to be an issue as when tested the engine fired up and ran. If you have the time and space, I would say go for it and give it a shot, that is what I would end up doing. No way I could afford JD to do the job!!

I watched the youtube video on the Crankshaft swap. Maybe in my younger days. For now, hoping a local, skilled acquaintance is up to the task and willing. Suffering the down time though.
