the issue at hand is whether or not to make it a 372 whilst he's pulling the head. :)

The answer to that is no. And if you do, I could step up and properly dispose of the 365 cylinder for you. The plating is highly hazardous and only a trained professional like myself should be handling it.

This will be staying a 365 and hopefully will just be a flip for me to fund some other stuff.

Just drove a couple hours to pick up a NIB 272xp jug and slug. Came with everything but one wrist pin clip. Got a real good deal on it too

I'm no expert, but my guess is that someone played with that cylinder a bit more than they should have.

If the piston looks good, I would bet the cylinder is not 100%. Does not make sense that a good looking piston has a bad ring.

Best of luck with it.

I Imagine it will be done with a quick sand and a new set of rings. Curious to the lateral scratches though

Not trying to be a smart azz but you have to remember you are dealing with trapped compression on a two cycle ..The static might seem low but once the running compression hits the rings it might run just fine.
I use as a example the 125 McCulloch I made a cast iron cylinder liner for .The cylinder is nearly perfect as far as taper ,ovality and finish .The rings are new, tool steel .I have not put enough running time on it in the last ten years to even seat the rings .I can roll it over without the compression release . If you've ever rolled one over you will note usually you need the decomp .However once it's fired up it runs nearly as well as my other one .

Absolutely true, but I think his static compression was low enough to indicate that it was time to freshen things up. I’m sure it would still run in it’s current state though. Maybe just be a little down on powa.

No but I’d be looking for at least 145psi. Just what I normally see on healthy top end. Have you seen different? Learning
140-150 sounds right for a healthy one. Id just re ring the OP saw and delete the gasket and it would probably improve a lot.

All sounds good. Made an order HL supply yesterday. Will hopefully have this up and running soon. It did run fine before tear down. But I wanted a better look at what was going on in there
