I use mine 99% for concrete with a diamond blade. I buy the cheapest general purpose diamond blades I can find on ebay because I've had $50 ones outlast $500 blades. At least if their junk, I'm not out much and I just get a different blade next time. For abrasive blades, I've used mostly concrete blades. They'll cut steel too, but a bit slower than a blade made to cut steel. Steel cutting abrasive blades don't cut concrete very well.

I started out with a partner/husky 760. In 2 years, the recoil bolt holes were stripped out from replacing the rope so many times on the job, without a blow gun to remove concrete dust from the holes. I bought a stihl ts400 and it still runs well today....20 years later. Can't go wrong with a 420

Thanks for all the replies guys! So, educate me on the blades a little. Looks like you have to use two different blades for asphalt, and concrete. Although there seems to be multi-purpose blades also. What do y'all recommend? And where do you get them at?
Green concrete and asphalt cut about the same. Cured concrete cuts much harder. The diamonds are adhered differently and using them in the wrong material...they perform poorly but will cut. Best to match the blade to the material and water when using diamonds is a big plus.

Does anybody happen to have a spring, trigger and pin to hold it in for a ts420?

Got the saw up and running this afternoon. Can y'all tell where this goes?

Only piece that I can't figure out.

Through the tank to the back side under the flywheel. Have to remove the wrap and tank to put it in. Its important...part of the clean air intake. Helps causes dust to be flung out of the intake air...

I think it came out of the passage to one of the bottom cylinder bolts.

What do you guys think. Have a couple projects coming up. Need to cut a brick wall in a house, and cut a 20ft. strip in pavement. I know it would be cheaper to just go rent a saw for a couple days, but I'd kind of like to learn about these anyway. Would probably just keep it for a year or so, and sell it. My questions is, cut off saws are something new to me. Do y'all think something like the 268k, or 272k would be something to look at, or what brand and model, do y'all think? Read up on a lot, but still a lot to learn. Thanks for any response!
I have a Husky K 760 I can turn loose It has a steel/brick blade on it and is set up for a wet system for a hose ~~~

Well....I have to ask...everything you had hoped?

I hate demo saws...so filthy to operate.

I'm pretty happy with it! Going to have to make to large cuts in a couple weeks through asphalt, so I guess that will be the real test. Doesn't seem too bad with water though. Sure does go against your gut feeling to be cutting through a brick though!

I had a Target Quickie super 80 but it grew legs and walked off.it was made by Olympic and was an absolute monster.it had a 14" diamond blade.the only thing wrong was the wheels were broke off at a weld.started and ran like brand new.only had like $35 in it when I bought a bunch of saws, blowers etc from a utility company.still have a ts400 to build.piston was absolutely killed in it.

Used mine for the first time this morning! Cut about 30ft of asphalt. Supposed to bury wire at our church this weekend. It did good, did not take as long as I thought it would. While I didn't hate it, I could see where it would get old fast. I was very happy with it though. It ran good!

30'? Just warming up. Rarely do I cut under 100' at a time...and most of the time it is under traffic. Just part of the job....

Like I say, I could definitely see where it would get old! What about the carts that they make for them? Seems like they would be nice for a 100ft cut.
